PS belongs to the group styreneplastics. Polystreneis made from monomer styrene.
PS is an amorphous thermoplastic that can be obtained clear or dyed. The material is hard and brittle. It has good mechanical properties but is not resistant to weather exposure. The resistant to weather can be improved by introducing additives. PS has a limited use in the electrical industry due to the weak heat resistance and the tendency to take electrostatic charge.
Applications : Disposable articles, signs, cabinets, machine parts, picture frames etc.
